Transferring an already registered domain name entails changing the registrar company that handles the registration service, so after the transfer itself, you will have to manage things like renewal fees or DNS updates through the new domain registrar. The transfer procedure is standard with most generic and country-code TLD extensions. Certain country-code extensions are more specific and entail different procedures, but in the general case transferring a domain name entails a few basic steps and one of them is unlocking the domain. The domain lock is a safety option, which is being embraced by more and more registry organizations. It is a standard feature supported by all gTLDs. If a domain name is locked, it won’t be possible to initiate a transfer procedure, so no one can even try to take your domain name. The domain lock can be annulled only through the account where the domain name is registered and all new domain names that support this feature are locked by default the moment they are registered.

Registrar Lock in Hosting

If you purchase a Linux hosting from our company, you’ll be able to manage all domain names registered through us using our Hepsia Control Panel and you will be able to unlock any of them with only a couple of clicks of the mouse. All registrations will be displayed in alphabetical order in the Domain Manager section of the hosting Control Panel and for each one of them you’ll see a mini padlock icon. Clicking it will show you the present security lock status. If the domain is locked and you would like to transfer it away, you’ll just need to click once again and you will be all set. Locking a domain name is just as easy and since the domains are administered in the same place as the hosting account itself, you will not have to sign in and out of different tools.

Registrar Lock in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you have registered a domain name through us and you’d like to transfer it away, you can easily unlock it via the same Hepsia Control Panel, which you use to manage your semi-dedicated server account. All domain name registrations will be listed alphabetically in your account and you’ll notice a mini padlock icon next to each domain there, on the condition that its extension supports the registrar lock feature. You can see whether the domain is locked or not by clicking on this icon and update the present status by clicking on it again. You can then proceed and initiate the transfer straight away without waiting for the status to be changed on WHOIS lookup sites, as the change will propagate instantly without you or us having to do anything else.
